Plea for help from Stroud International Textiles
An ERTF member has alerted the group to the fact that the very successful Stroud International Textiles (SIT) annual festival and year round programme has an uncertain future. Even though the festival brought in an estimated £150,000 to the area, through tourism, etc, has become a beacon of international excellence within contemporary textiles, supports emerging talent, enhances education, and supports artist led initiatives further support is in severe jeopardy because of funding cuts.
A target of £25,000 is needed by the group by mid-September.
If you wish to find out more, or find out how you can help visit their website -
Ewa Kuniczak this autumn in Norfolk
From Ewa :- ‘Ever wondered how you could stop your designs from distorting during wet felting? This workshop will give you the opportunity to gain control from preparation to completion, using a method, adapted from contemporary Mongolian felting techniques that I have used successfully over a number of years. Learnt from a Master and 'tweaked' by me, results guarantee success and quality! No need to resort to needle or stitch details lost during the process, because using this method you will have accuracy and success every time!’

BANK HOLIDAY AT THE FOUNDLING MUSEUM
Janette Bright a member of ERTF is taking part in the events at the museum on Sunday 29th August, for more details of the events that are going on at the museum go to the museums website.
Janette told me that the talk is more of a historical talk and together with Gill Clark they will talk about the foundling tokens. Janette says there are some textiles mentioned and some children's clothing, but it will mainly be about the historical research. The story of Margaret Larney will be included, who also features in Janette's EAST work. The Token talk starts at 12.30.
