Newsletter now available

Just to let you all know the latest edition of the newsletter is now available through the ERTF website.  I did not get much in the way of contributions but I am hoping there is still plenty of different and unusual snippets of information and less than the run of the mill exhibitions and events.  I wanted to publish early because there are some exhibitions and events that are finishing soon that are really worth visiting if you can.

I can take any reviews or information about exhibitions now - the next newsletter will be published by 1st February 2014 so if you are involved in something in late winter/early spring let me know.  I shall be at the November conference so even if your typing is not up to much just bring it on paper and I'll type it up for you.  Even a torn out bit of info about some interesting textile news will be great.

New Website - Update

Progress is being made on the new website, and I think you will find it comes together now fairly quickly, once I get time to add (historical) things to it.  Some of it is still in testing phase, so don't be surprised if it doesn't make sense.
But the important need to know right now information, is there for you.
I can tell you that the old website address of www.ertf.org.uk should now take you through to the new site.
If you have questions about the new website, please ask website@easternregiontextileforum.co.uk

New Website - Progress Report

Members, as you are aware we are in the process of constructing a new website.  Things have been happening in the background, but I thought I'd update you with today's news.
If you don't know already, every Member will have their own Gallery Page, free. A place to add photos of your work and summary information about yourself and your textile art practice.  I want each of you to take up the opportunity, you all have something to say about your work.
Today I've been testing this Gallery to see how to add/delete photos, change my bio information, add my website link.  I can tell you its going well, and I'm pleased with what I've seen so far.

So, we are progressing.  In the meantime start thinking about your own Gallery, your images, and biography, so when the time comes, you can join in with this new development.  And don't worry, as the ERTF Website Manager, its my role to help you with the techy stuff!

Guidance Article: Galleries/Exhibition Submissions

I came across the following article by Carol Naylor.  Given the ERTF's forthcoming Exhibition the selection process involved, I thought it worth passing on here.  Lots of good common sense, practical information.  Please click HERE for the article courtesy of TextileArtist.org

Cambs/Beds Region

Our next visit will be to The Manor, Hemingford Grey on Thursday 30th May. We will meet in the morning and spend time in the beautiful garden sketching and photographing the wonderful collection of old roses and irises - usually in full bloom in May/June.

We will have a shared picnic by the river and at 2.30 a tour of the amazing and atmospheric house, which is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited house in the U.K. It was the home of Lucy Boston who wrote the Green Knowe children's books and also houses her collection of patchwork quilts.

Everyone (member and non-member) is welcome to join us.

Updates

Those with sharp eyes may have spotted this already, either here on the right column of the blog site, or front page of the website and corresponding sub-pages.

Our forthcoming Exhibition "Eastern Images" now has confirmed dates.  The Exhibition will run from 8th February - 7th March 2014.  Private View to be on 7th February.  This is only a slight adjustment to the provisional dates given.
Details of Exhibition submission will be launched at the forthcoming April Conference, but Members can find brief outlines on the website in the Members section, under Exhibitions,  you will need to log in.

Reminder for Members  - please check your email inboxes/spam folders regularly, for contact from the ERTF, there may well be information sent to you direct.

If, like me, you use Google Reader as a one stop place to go for access to all the blogs you follow, you may have seen that as of 1st July this service will no longer operate.  I am looking at an alternative because this is a service I personally use every day.  Makes it so much easier and faster to learn of new postings to blogs.

Winter newsletter

Calling all ERTF members - the winter newsletter is due to come out at the beginning of February and I need some articles!  Reviews of exhibitions, perhaps something about a relevant gift you got for Christmas or anything else you think might interest ERTF members.  If you are not confident writing an article, just send me some information (for instance on an exhibition coming up) and I can put it into a format to let other members know.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon - Janette, newsletter editor - newsletter1@ertf.org.uk
