Visits to London Exhibitions

If you are interested in joining with other ERTF members to visit the following museum exhibitions dates have been arranged as follows:

Friday 21st May - V&A , Quilts and /or Grace Kelly exhibition
Friday 4th June - PRISM at the Mall Galleries

If you are interested you need to let Chris Spencer know, just so she has names and numbers and she can give you information on time/place to meet. For the V&A exhibitions there is a charge which you can pay on the day; although if you are a V&A member you can get in for free.

SARA IMPEY at the V&A

The Victoria And Albert Museum is presenting it's first major exhibition of quilts from 20th March to 4th July 2010. The exhibition is exploring 300 years of British Quilt Making and will show more than 65 quilts, as well as traditional quilts there will be quilts made by contemporary artists Tracey Emin and ERTF member Sara Impey. ERTF members will be familiar with Sara's work, we were lucky enough to have two of Sara's quilts in our 'Moving Forward' exhibition at Cambridge in 2009. Sara also gave an inspiring talk to members during one of our conferences.




ERTF members will also be fortunate to have the opportunity to take part in a Show and Tell Event with input from Sara. This will be a members only event held in Essex and tickets will be limited.Tickets will be available at the April AGM.

OWEN JONES STUDY DAY

There is provisional new date in December for another OWEN JONES study day with ERTF at the V&A. For more information check out the members pages on the website, you'll find all the information under Committee organised events.

This is a great opportunity to get up close to original work and to become involved in what promises to be a very exciting project!!!!

Owen Jones at The V and A

A group of 6 ERTF members made a visit today to the V&A, I'm sure that they will all agree that Caroline arranged a very well organised day. We met at 11 then spent an hour and a half looking at the two rooms which contained some of his works, this gave us all a chance to get a feel of what was to come! After lunch we had two hours in a room of our own where we were presented with books and boxes of Owen Jones designs, there were also 4 designs that were sold at auction by the Warners Archive in the 1970's, the fabrics from these designs are still held by Warners. Photography was allowed, but sadly I cant put these images up as they are only for my own use. It was a very inspiring day, I came away with lots of ideas for future projects, I'm sure that the rest of the group did too! There will be more opportunities to study Owen Jones either at the V&A or at Warners Archive.
